I grew up in the DFW Metroplex.  I went to my first dirt track race when I was 11 years old at a track in Grand Prairie called the Sportsdrome. Lot of great racing there with Figure 8 Races as a regular attraction.  When I was old enough to get my drivers license I started driving to different tracks in the DFW area such as Buffalo Park, Cowtown, Thunderbird and most frequently the Sportsdrome.  I tried to build a car when I was 20, but wasn't very successful.  When I was 21, a career opportunity presented itself in Austin.  I met my wife to be (Cindy) and we married two years later.  We had a son and then a daughter.  Just after moving to Austin, Cindy and some friends encouraged me to try some college courses.  After some resistance, I agreed to try one class and then it was another and another.  As it turned out, I stayed with it and graduated from St. Edwards University in Austin.

Trying to race seemed to drift to the wayside, but I never lost my love for the days at the dirt tracks It seemed for many years that I would never get to try my hand at racing.  After about 16 years in Austin, Cindy and I decided we wanted to live in a more rural environment and have our kids attend a smaller school.  In 2001 we moved to Louise.  Shortly thereafter, my daughter Lauren and I started running over to Texana Raceway.  I wanted to start racing more and more with each event we attended.  In 2004, I took the leap and bought a car that was racing at Texana.  I talked to many people, made a few changes to the car and I was ready for racing in 2005 at Texana Raceway Park.  On my first night in the car, I won my feature, which to this day feels like a dream.  I had a lot of good runs in that car in 2005 and in 2006 I won nine of the 13 races we entered at Texana Raceway Park.  I've also gotten my feet wet with promotions for the track and have come to enjoy helping promote the track along with racing and helping my daughter with her racing.  My logo on the trunk of my race car is "dirt running through my veins".  I'm very lucky to live in the place I live, very blessed to have my family, and very lucky to be someone who has experienced a long held dream of being a dirt track racer.

Memorable moment:

With regard to racing, the very most memorable moment has to be coming out to compete for the first time in 2005 and somehow winning the feature that night.  That was pretty incredible.   Secondly, the 2006 season overall was filled with a lot of wonderful memories.

Important to me overall, is the friendships I've made through racing and what I feel like in many ways is my extended family.  I never really expected to forge so many friendships as a result of dirt track racing.  That has been an unexpected surprise, and something that is immeasurable in value.
